In Ukraine, children wait for Saint Nicholas to come and to put a present under their pillows provided that the children were good during the year. In Germany and Poland, "boys would dress as bishops begging alms for the poor." In the Netherlands, "Dutch children put out a clog filled with hay and a carrot for Saint Nicholas' horse. On Saint Nicholas' Day, gifts are tagged with personal humorous rhymes written by the sender."

In design of scene has been used architecture of Rynok Square. It is a central square of the city Lviv, Ukraine. The square was designed in 13-14th century soon after Lviv’s location as a city.
Originally, the buildings were Gothic; however, a great fire on 3 June 1527 destroyed most of the city. The city was rebuilt in Renaissance style, with a few remaining examples of Gothic architecture.
